CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

There are numerous reasons to get involved in one or more clubs or organizations on campus.  Colleges strongly consider a student’s well-roundedness and contributions to his/her school for admission and scholarships.  In addition, it helps students feel a larger sense of belonging and fosters positive socialization.  With more than 40 clubs and organizations, Westside has a multitude of opportunities for students to get involved.

Every September, Westside holds Rush Week. Clubs and organizations are promoted school wide and students have an opportunity to meet with sponsors and club members at lunch in the Commons and attend meetings to help them find a good fit.
If a student doesn’t see a club of interest, we encourage them to start their own! Here’s how:

  1. Come up with an idea! Clubs typically have an academic, community service and/or common interest purpose that are beneficial to young adults
  2. Find a sponsor. Students wishing to start clubs should discuss their idea with a faculty member. Sponsors will then request a packet from the main office.
  3. Find students interested in joining. The sponsor’s packet will include a petition; you need at least 15 students interested in joining and the signature of the sponsor.
  4. Get approval. Your sponsor will complete the required forms and submit to Ms. Smith in the Main office. It will take a few days for approval and then your new club is up and running!
