ART CLUB - Painting
Open to students in Pre AP Art courses.  Students do work for contests/outreach projects/special projects

ASIAN HONOR SOCIETY
Help  promote awareness and understanding of Asian culture.  Give presentations about their heritage and share games and projects. 
*Dues - $10

BIKE CLUB
Bike for fun and train for the MS150

BLACK STUDENT UNION
Study, explore, and celebrate issues impacting the African-American Community.  Participate  in Black History program, community service, debates, and interviews.

BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA
BPA helps develop student leadership and contribute to the preparation or a world-class  workforce through academic leadership and technological skills...  Students compete in workplace skills competitions, attend leadership workshops, and  participate in community service projects.
*3.0 GPA required, good attendance, good conduct record, and positive Dean review.

BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMEN OF THE FUTUTRE
A club for young women at Westside

CHRISTIANS ON CAMPUS
Fellowship with other Christians.  Participate in great community service projects.

ECOLOGY CLUB
Learn about the environment and take action to protect it.  Recycling projects and Texas Envirothon  competition.

E.O.E.STEP TEAM
Participate in various step shows through other schools and universities

Film contests and film festivals

Promotes French language and culture through activities in and around the community

FUTURE TEACHERS CLUB
 Encourages students to consider education as a career choice.  Community service and tutoring  are required.

GAMING / ANIME CLUB
Club for game players and those that enjoy drawing and watching Anime.  Students will participate in game competitions.

GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE
Supports and promotes acceptance and diversity with respect to the GLBT community 

GERMAN CLUB
Work on projects, listen to German music, and watch German music.  Compete in Houston fest (German competition)

GUITAR CLUB
Learn to play guitar and basic music theory.  All levels welcome

HISTORY CLUB
For those who love the study of history.  Students will view and discuss documentaries.
*Juniors * Must be passing history class

HOSA (HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA)
Discover career opportunities in the health care industry and enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people.  Field trips to hospitals, guest speakers, develop professional skills, and participate in state and national competitions.
*10 State membership fee and $10 National membership fee

HOT AIR BALLOON CLUB
Classroom and practical flight information.  Crew for HAB’s.  Compete in several balloon competitions nation wide.

HOWLIN’ RESPECT
Promotes diversity, tolerance and peace at Westside HS. Participate in activities that increase awareness of social-justice or issues.

INTERACT CLUB
Service, leadership and social club that offers students an opportunity to develop team work and leadership skills. Local and international projects.

JROTC
A program that promotes leadership, citizenship, and service to the community, while instilling self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline.

LATIN CLUB
Promote the study of the classical world.  Local and state competitions in academic and cultural
areas.
*$10 fee

LATIN MOTION
Latin dance – practice and competition

MU ALPHA THETA – MATH CLUB
Math club which focuses on promoting the knowledge of math. Students participates in UIL math competitions.
*$5 membership fee

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (NHS)
A nationally recognized organization honoring high school students.
*Requirements:  3.8 GPA and approval by Committee

NEWSPAPER CLUB
Students participate in all aspects of newspaper production, including  ads, photography, writing, layout.  Publish the “HOWLER”

PRIDE DANCE TEAM
Disciplined and fun dance group of young ladies representing Westside HS.  Performances at football games, pep rallies, basketball games, competitions and dance shows.
*Tryouts – members must pay for all uniforms & travel expenses

QUIZ BOWL
Students participate in trivia quizzes over current events including  sports, entertainment, arts, and news, in  preparation for UIL competitions. 

RALLY PACK
Help promote school spirit by attending events as a group offering vocal support, producing signage of support and cheer at athletic events.
*$25 fee for t-shirt and supplies

S.A.V.E.
An  organization for  students interested in community service and volunteering at local events.  UNICEF is a major project.

S.E.C.M.E.
Club to promote science and engineering at all student levels

SKILLS USA
Coaches students in the culinary arts and skills.  Competitions at local and state level.
*must be in E-101 - $15 state and national dues

NATIONAL SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY
Rewards high achievement in the study of the Spanish language and promotes continuity in Hispanic studies.
*$15 activity fee

SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Special Olympics provides athletic training and competition in a variety of sports for persons with disability, giving them the opportunity to develop physical fitness.  Activities include supporting, encouraging, motivating, mentoring and role-modeling the athletes.

SPEECH AND DEBATE CLUB
Improve speaking skills and compete in speech and debate tournaments at the  district, state, and national level.
*UIL eligibility requirements.  $100 annual activity fee

STUDENT COUNCIL (STUDENT GOVERNMENT)
Students are elected by their peers.  Student Council will organize and plan social functions, school service projects, community service projects and school elections.  Students will learn leadership skills and provide opportunities for students to serve others.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLUB
Test and improve skills by playing ultimate Frisbee

UNIQUE CLUB
Highlight Special Ed Department  Life Skills Department

W.O.R.D.
Club to increase student appreciation of English skills.  Book Clubs discuss chosen novels, Writing Clubs share self-written compositions for critiques and publishing, Fan Clubs will celebrate certain characters and writers, Poetry Club will create and perform poetry.

YOUNG REPUBLICANS AND YOUNG DEMOCRATS
Students discuss and debate national and global issues.  No contests or competitions.
