GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
I was once told, “If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.” I hope that’s true… My Name is Troy Gillespie and I coach at Westside High School. This is my 10th year at the school, and I have been the head coach for the past seven seasons. In the past five years we have had a lot of success with a record of 166-51. In the past six years my team has won 2 district championships, won five tournament titles, qualified for the play-offs every year, and been to the regional tournament three times, with two appearances in the finals. Also, during the past six seasons, we have placed eighteen full scholarship athletes into a college or university, along with five other non scholarship basketball participants, and many more academic scholars continuing on into college from our team. This season our expectations have never been higher. Each and every day, we strive for excellence on the court and in the classroom, as we try to out work all challenges. With every passing moment I am trying to better my team, my students, and myself for a future full of intangibles.

TRY-OUT PROCEDURE AND ACTIVITY FEES
Please remember that all athletes must submit the required athletic packet forms referred to under General Information delivered to Coach Gillespie before any activity begins. Try-Outs are held in mid October, but anyone participating in the athletic period (volleyball or basketball) is not required to attend the try-outs. There is a $175 consumables fee that must be paid or fundraised.
PRACTICES
We have open gym, open weight room, and study hall when we are in pre-season and off-season. During the season each team practices and then meets from 3:15 until 6:00. We have Saturday practices or games every week-end.

Girls’ Basketball had a great 2010 season, finishing in the FINAL 16 IN STATE!
Congratulations to Rachel Cumbo, Erin Luton, Alexis Hill, and Tiffany Davis on being named to the ALL DISTRICT 1st team; Teisa Jones and Jamiyla Deboise named to 2nd team; and Briana Luton and Brittany Powers who received Honorable Mention. Special recognition goes to Tiffany Davis who was selected for the 1st team ALL REGION!
We will unfortunately loose six valuable seniors, but with our JV and Freshmen Teams both finishing 1st in District and 7 returning Varsity lettermen we are expecting great things for next season!
