NOTIFICACIÓN Del TÍTULO I and EXPLICACIÓN DEL PLAN DE ESTUDIOS

Westside High School has a school wide Title I program. Title I is a federal funded program with the intent to improve the academic achievement of students who are economically disadvantaged. The purpose of Title I, Part A is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).

Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Title I funds enable Westside High School to employ and train highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals; purchase instructional materials and classroom computers; and sponsor parental involvement activities. To increase student academic achievement, Title I funds supplement the following programs offered at Westside High School:

• Extended Instructional Day Program
• Summer School
• Field Trips
• Literacy Training (Fast Forward)
• Credit Recovery (Plato Lab, Carnegie Math Lab)

If you have further questions or comments, please contact the Title I Coordinator, Drew Bissell at 281-920-8000 ext:6087 during school hours, by e-mail at fbissell@houstonisd.org.
