Student Orientation

I. General Information:

    1. Copy machines are available. Copies are .10 each.
    2. Printing from the computers is available for .10 per page. Do NOT press the printer icon. Instead, go to file and print, then select the number of pages that you would like to print. Patrons are responsible for all pages printed.
    3. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A PASS TO ENTER THE LIBRARY AT ANY TIME! Passes for individual students are accepted the first 30 minutes of each period and are valid for 30 minutes.  Passes must be signed by the sending teacher, dated and timed.   Please watch your time.
    4. No FOOD or DRINKS in the library (Including GUM or CANDY).

II. Book Circulation:

    1. Three books may be checked out.
    2. Books may be renewed once.
    3. Overdue books have a fine rate of .10 per day.
    4. Books may not be checked out if you have any overdue books or outstanding fines.

III. Browsing Rules:

    1. Use marker/flag if available.
    2. Place books that you do not want on the book carts located by the blue Charging Desk. Do not leave books on the tables or reshelf them.
    3. Ask for a map of the library if you need help locating any items.
    4. Do not "Congregate" in the library.
    5. All computers in the library have the WHS Library Catalog--OPAC (On-Line Public Access Catalog) icon available for searching materials.

IV. Computer/Internet Use:

A. Only 2 students per computer
B. Volume on computers should be muted (unless personal headphones are available).
C. No Instant Messaging (IM) or game playing during the instructional day. Computers are to be used for educational purposes.
D. Students are responsible for the appropriateness of their Internet browsing and downloading.

Important notice: To gain access to a library computer, you must give your ID to a library staff member or library assistant in exchange for a computer.  When you give your ID to a staff member, he/she will issue you a COMPUTER CARD with a NUMBER ON IT.  That computer card will be checked-out to you.  The number on the card must coincide with the computer that you are going to use—example: Card 1 will go in the pocket at computer 1 and so on.  When you are finished with your computer, return your computer card to the front desk and your ID will be returned to you

V. Rules/Consequences:

    1. We have only one rule in the library-"RESPECT” Everyone and All of our Materials.
    2. Consequences include a verbal or written warning, phone call to parents, or loss of library privileges.
