March 24
The final web mastering project will be a group assignment. The groups will be assigned Monday, March 24. I will allow students to work individually, or with one or two group memebers. The Web Presentation Project should be designed as an oral presentation. Choose one main topic (appropriate for a class assignment in school) and develop sub pages around that topic. The topic is should be narrowly focused. Narrow your topic to ONE specific idea that you want to research for a month. Choose the main topic from the provided list.
Only one group can choose each topic. When you have made your decision, you need to sign the poster on the front board indicating that you are working on that topic. Review the requirements for this project. The topic list will be posted at 3:30 Monday afternoon. You can sign up then, or early Tuesday morning. You will also be given a chance to sign up during class.
Objectives:
- You have the opportunity to work with someone, or a group of 3, or individually.
- Students will read the requirements for the project. There will be time for questions.
- Decide on topic for presentation. -- see provided list.
March 27
Decide on group and give this information to teacher. Once the group has been assigned, abolsutely no switches can be made. Work with group members to decide on the topic that you will be presenting in class. -- see provided list. Sub categories for your topic will be developed. (Individual -- 2 sub topics; groups of two--four subtopics; groups of 3--six subtopics. Two additional web pages will be developed and linked to each of the subtopics. Each group member will research and develop a specific portion of the web site. Time will be given towards the end of the project to assimilate the files.
File structure will be critically important for proper navigation within the site. Each group member must create a pres folder in their folder on the student server. Create ALL of the files for this project in another folder inside this folder that is named your login (ie. whsa). This is necessary so the files can be combined at the end of the project. This is the ONLY way that I will be able to identify your project. You must work with your group to identify file names so all navigation will work.
March 28
Once the main topic has been decided upon, sign the topics poster in the front of the room.
Create an outline (site map) for your site. When complete, you can begin developing content. You will be required to identify all sources, so keep careful records of the web sites and resources used for developing your content. This outline will be turned in on Thursday, March 30.
homework: record in your journal what you did in class today and discuss the topics that your group is presenting.
March 29

March 31
Create site map in Dreamweaver. Each group member should have one sheet of paper for each file they are going to be responsible for creating. These will be collected at the end of the project, so keep them in a safe place. Write the file name in the upper left hand corner of each page. Write YOUR name below the file name. Remember to name the files appropriately: all lower case, no spaces or special symbols, short and descriptive.
Create new files for all. (index.html for the flash intro, an intro.html file that introduces the topic and gives a broad summary, two sub-categories, and two pages to support each of the sub-categories and a citation.html page. The sub-categories and support files can be named at your discretion, following the nomenclature discussed in class....NO CAPS!!!! n o s p a c e s!!!)
- 9 individual
- 15 for groups of two,
- 21 for groups of three
The files can be blank, but should be saved with the appropriate file name.
Create an images folder. All images will be saved to this folder. *All flash files MUST be saved to the same location as your html files. Be sure to name all of your buttons something appropriate.
Organization is very important. Before continuing with your research, indicate that you are ready for me to grade your folder/file structure. This will count as a major grade for this project. You must have this complete BEFORE the end of class on Friday, March 31.

- Discuss the Class Contributions for possible navigation menus for your web site. (click on the link)
- Work through pages 98-99 in your Dreamweaver text. Review how to make a navigation menu in Dreamweaver. You can save your practice file as navigation.html.
