January 14 - test on Thursday/Friday, January 17/18

CSS Styles -- As you design your Web pages, you will want to use font changes to make your pages more interesting. You can easily change the font face, including its size and color, but if you want the same color, the same font face, and the same size for all your pages, you would have to remember the settings from page to page.

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) saves the text and paragraph formatting from selected text, making it easy for you to apply that style to other paragraphs in your document or to any document in your site. If you change a CSS style, text originally formatted with that style does not change.

Work through Step-By-Step 1.20 together

To apply a style to a selection, you have to highlight all of the appropriate text before applying the style. To apply a style to an entire paragraph, you just have to place the insertion point within the paragraph.

Complete packet --through step 1.27 by the end of class Monday.
If you have not completed the entire packet, you MUST attend tutorials to complete this lesson.

Tutorials: -- Tuesday after school. 3:30 - 4:15 or Wednesday during either lunch

Objective:  Create an original banner for a web site

Activities: Search web sites for images to use for a web site site

Since a banner comes at the top of each page in a site, it is the single most important part of your site's design. It sets the style and mood, the colors and fonts, and even the layout of the body text and graphics. If you create your banner with care, the rest of your design decisions will easy. The following directions will help you make a simple (but oh so important) personal homepage banner in Photoshop.

Create a folder in your classwork/dreamweaver/hockeyleague folder called banner. This is where you will save all the graphics and rough drafts used for your banners.

Access the banner handout and complete the directions.

When your banner is complete, be sure to save for the web. The final image should be saved to the images folder.

Insert the image into the web pages and replace the original logo. Resize each table to 640 px. and align to the center.

Save all pages. Exercise 1 --

Replace original banner with the one you made in class
Resize tables on all pages to 640 px.
Align Center
