SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Dates: June 4, 2008 (except Math Tuition Courses; please see Ms. Matlock in A-205)
Times: 8:00 – 11:00 am and 12:00 – 3:00 pm
Location: Westside Commons
Cost: Free for Credit Recovery and $150 per semester course for Tuition Summer School (cash or money order made payable to Westside High School)
Attendance: If you miss more than two classes in the four-week sessions, you will NOT earn credit in the class. No absences are allowed in the one-week session.
Late Registration: Late registration will be accepted (same times and place) through June 6, 2008 based on availability. Attendance records begin June 5 regardless of your registration date. In other words, if you miss the first day or two of summer school these will count towards the allowable absences to earn credit.
You must provide your spring 2008 report card to register. Report cards can be picked up during Summer School Registration.
FREE CREDIT RECOVERY SUMMER SCHOOL
There are 3 options to recover credit in a class previously failed. If your report card semester grade was 65-69, you may take the one-week course to recover credit; if your grade was 60 or higher you should take the four-week summer school or enroll in the Plato Recovery Lab. Students must make at least a 60 in the semester course with no more than 5 unexcused absences to qualify for Recovery Summer School. The minimum grade requirement does not apply to the Plato Recovery Lab.
A. ONE-WEEK SESSION (Report Card grade of 65-69 only)

B. FOUR-WEEK SESSION (Report Card grade of 60-64)
Dates: June 5 – July 2, 2008
Times: Morning Session 8:00 – 11:00 am or Afternoon Session 12 – 3:00 pm
Class Time: Each class is 90 minutes. “A” semester classes are offered the first 90 minutes and “B” semester classes are offered the second 90 minutes. The same is true for the afternoon session. Students may recover credit for up to 2 semester courses (one full credit) only; the two sessions are offered to accommodate more students.

C. PLATO RECOVERY LAB
Dates: June 5 – July 2, 2008
Times: Morning Session 8:00 – 11:00 am or Afternoon Session 12 – 3:00 pm
Credit Recovery Courses Offered:
The Plato Lab offers computer-based credit recovery instead of teacher instructed courses. Only junior and senior core classes are offered (e.g. English 3 or 4, Chemistry, US History, etc.). Students work at their own pace but courses must be completed during summer school. Attendance rules apply – no more than 2 absences!
TUITION SUMMER SCHOOL 2008
A selection of courses is offered for original credit to students who wish to advance or make room in their schedule to accommodate electives during the school year. Enrollment is accepted on a space available basis. Please note that all tuition classes are subject to a minimum enrollment.
A. Tuition Courses Offered
Health, Speech, P.E., SAT Prep(one-semester or .5 credit)
Art A and B, PAP Chemistry A and B and Desktop Publishing A and B* (two-semester or 1.0 credit):
Dates: June 5 – July 2, 2008
Times: Morning Session 8:00 – 11:00 am and Afternoon Session 12 – 3:00 pm
Class Time: Each class is 3 hours. Two-semester courses (Art and PAP Chemistry) are scheduled with the “A” semester class in the morning session and “B” semester class in the afternoon session. This schedule enables students to earn credit for two one-semester courses (.5 each) or a year-long course (1.0 credit) over the 4-week summer school.
* Satisfies the Technology graduation requirement
B. Math Tuition Courses Offered
PAP Pre-Calculus A and B (two-semester or 1.0 credit):
Dates: June 9 – 27 (A) and July 14 – August 1, 2008 (B)
Times: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
PAP Geometry A and B (two-semester or 1.0 credit):
Dates: June 16 - Jul 25, 2008
Times: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
