Skipping is defined as coming to school or towards the school under the premise of attending class and not attending said class (s).

Truancy is defined as a pattern of skipping or leaving campus without permission and is considered an unexcused absence. A student may not be given credit for a class if the student has more unexcused absences during a semester then allowed by state law.

Non-Credit. The State of Texas requires that a students must attend class at least 85 days each semester and have no more than three (3) unexcused absences to receive class credit for semester courses. If a student has more than five (5) excused absences for the semester, or more than three (3) unexcused absences, the student is to be given an asterisk (*) or non-credit. If the numerical grade is 70 or above, the student has failed that class because of absenteeism. The student may appeal to the Westbury Attendance Appeals Committee at the end of each semester. All recommendations to this committee will be taken into consideration when a final decision is made, but could result in the loss of credit for that course.
