FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Houston, Texas
“SPACECITY CLASSIC”
2008 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CLASSIC
TO BE PLAYED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AT ROBERTSON STADIUM
On March 8, 2008 the First Annual Space City Classic will bring together the best High School Football players from Houston and surrounding areas. “Everything in Texas is huge, and high school football is no exception. We will celebrate the most talented teens and send them off to their collegiate careers in true Texas style”, said Karton Zawolo, Executive Director of SpaceCity Classic. High school football rivals professional sports in attendance with an average of 10,000+ fans, Friday nights in Houston are dedicated to watching high school football. Unlike most major cities, Houston has no citywide all-star football game that brings together the best football players from all divisions for one last test of talent, agility, and brute strength.
The Space City Classic will allow Houston and surrounding area’s top seniors to showcase their athletic abilities in front of coaches, classmate and parents. This once in a lifetime opportunity will bring together the top talent from each division, and will be inclusive of all public, private and charter schools. The SpaceCity Classic will be played at the University of Houston Robertson Stadium on March 8, 2008.
Students are chosen by an impartial forum of experts on Houston High School Football. Sam Khan (Houston Chronicle), Todd Freed (High School Sports Live) and Bob Slovak (High School Hot Shots) will pick all participating athletes based on athletic ability and overall stats. The game will be coached by current and retired Houston football legends that choose to give back to the community by donating their talent and time to help develop Houston’s best student athletes.
This game is supported by the City of Houston, and endorsed by City Councilman Jarvis Johnson of District B. Portions of the proceeding will benefit the Phoenix outreach program and various athletic programs in Houston Texas.
One player will be chosen by our elite panel as game MVP, and a donation of $1,000 will be given to their high school athletic program. For more information on the Space City Classic and sponsorship opportunities please contact Executive Director Karton Zawolo at 281-686-2401 or log on to www.spacecityclassic.net.
