How JROTC Started in Waltrip

   1960- The S.P. Waltrip Senior High School Army JROTC Battalion was first organized in August of the school's opening year. In 1972- The program was converted from a NDCC unit to a JROTC unit and female cadets were admitted to the program.

 The Battalion has been recognized as an Outstanding Unit.

1991- Honor Unit
1993- Honor Unit With Distinction
1996- Honor Unit With Distinction
1999- Honor Unit With Distinction
2002- Honor Unit With Distinction
