| The
Waltrip Pre-Employment Laboratory Education Child Care
Program provides classroom instruction and
laboratory experiences for high school students in grades
10, 11, and 12 which prepare the students for employment
in an occupation related to child care. The Child Care
Lab currently includes high school students and
pre-school children. Facilities meet minimum standards
for Day Care Centers and are licensed by the Texas
Department of Human Resources. Students are taught child
development, child psychology, nutrition, hygiene,
curriculum planning, budgeting, scheduling,
record-keeping, & communication skills. Students plan
and implement daily activities as well as parties, games,
and graduation ceremonies. As director, Mrs. Mary Peek is
responsible for setting the standards of operation of the
center and operating it in a manner which furthers the
growth and development of all who participate. |
