THREE GENERAL ORDERS
1. I will guard everything within the limits of my post
and quit my post only when properly relieved.
2. I will obey my special orders and
perform all of my duties in a military manner.
3. I will report violations of my
special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instructions
to the commander

EXAM EXEMPTIONS

Exemption eligibility requirements:
A minimum average of 85 in the course considered for
exemption.
A minimum average of 70, no more than 3 excused
absences, and no unexcused
absences, in each course that the student is
enrolled.
The student can not have any discipline referrals.
Eligibility is based on spring semester performance only
The student must have earned a "meet requirements"
score on TAKS for the course
considered for exemption, where applicable.
Exemptions by grade level are as follows:
12th - ALL COURSES
11th - Maximum of 3
10th - Maximum of 2
09th - Maximum of 1

Each member of a unit designated as an
Honor Unit with Distinction is awarded the Honor Unit with
Distinction Insignia (yellow star). |

Academic Achievement Insignia.
A gold wreath authorized for wear by
cadets in the top ten percent of each JROTC class – based on grades
earned in JROTC courses, as determined by the SAI. Subsequent awards
are indicated by a felt pad center background.
• Second award – red pad.
• Third award – silver pad.
• Fourth award – gold pad. |

Awarded to: Cadets who are active members of the National
Honor Society who are enrolled in JROTC. Authorized as long as
the cadet is an active participant of the NHS.

Citation Cord Yellow
Awarded to: Cadets who displays outstanding application to
duty, efficiency, leadership, and knowledge of military subjects
as observed by the DJROTC or upon recommendation of the SAI.

Awarded
to:
One HISD Cadet who exhibits the highest degree of excellence
scholastically. Recommendations based upon GPA. Selection made at
HISD JROTC. The HISD Superintendent presents the award. |
ACADEMIC
EXCELLENCE AWARD

N-1-2
Awarded to: One Cadet in each LET Level for maintaining the
highest school academic grades; based upon GPA. Awarded by the
Principal.

RIBBON

N-1-3
Awarded to: JROTC Cadets achieving an A in all academic subjects
after the first semester. Subsequent awards made after obtaining an A
in all subjects for each 2 semesters. Recommended by SAI; orders
published by DJROTC. |
PERFECT ATTENDANCE
RIBBON

N-1-4
Awarded to: JROTC Cadets with no more than three excused and no
unexcused absences during each semester. Orders published by the SAI.

Awarded to: Any cadet elected to student government.
Recommended by the SAI & awarded presented by the Principal.

LET SERVICE RIBBON

N-1-6
Awarded to: Cadets that successfully complete one semester of
training. Subsequent awards authorized upon completion of two
semesters thereafter. Orders published by the SAI.

INSTRUCTORS RIBBON

N-1-7
Awarded to: JROTC LET-3/4 Cadets.
Criteria: Successfully taught three different periods of
instruction. Orders published by SAI.

SUPERIOR INSTRUCTOR RIBBON

N-1-8
Awarded to: JROTC LET-3/4 Cadets.
Criteria: Previously earned the Instructor Ribbon and who
presents a scheduled class in a clearly superior manner before the
DJROTC. |
DJROTC LEADERSHIP RIBBON

N-3-1
Awarded to: One Cadet per Battalion per LET Level that displays
the highest degree of leadership. Recommendations submitted after the
4th 6 Weeks grading period to the DJROTC. |
PERSONAL APPEARANCE RIBBON

N-3-2
Awarded to: One Cadet per LET Level per Battalion. Cadet
Officers are not eligible.
Criteria: Awarded each semester to the cadet who most
consistently presents an outstanding appearance. Based on weekly
inspections. |
PROFICIENCY RIBBON

N-3-3
Awarded to: 15% of Enrollment per Battalion.
Criteria: Those Cadets that have demonstrated a high degree
leadership, academic achievement, and duty performance.
Recommendations submitted to the DJROTC after the 4th Six
Weeks grading period. |
DRILL TEAM RIBBON

N-3-4
Awarded to: JROTC Cadets.
Criteria: Awarded each semester to members of the drill team. Must
participate in one scheduled drill meet. Lamps awarded for subsequent
semesters.

ORIENTEERING RIBBON

N-3-5
Awarded to: Cadets who are members of an organized orienteering
team. Cadets must participate in at least one officially recognized
meet. |
COLOR/HONOR GUARD RIBBON

N-3-6
Awarded to: Cadets who are members of the Color/Honor Guard.
Criteria: Must be an active member for one semester and
participate in at least one locally scheduled competition. |

RIFLE TEAM RIBBON

N-3-7
Awarded to: Cadets who are members of the Rifle Team.
Criteria: Must be an active member for one semester and
participate in at least three locally scheduled competitions. |
ADVENTURE TRAINING RIBBON

N-3-8
Awarded to: Cadets who are members of the Adventure Teams.
Criteria: Cadets must be an active member for one semester and
Teams must be approved by the DJROTC. |
COMMENDATION RIBBON

N-3-9
Awarded to: Cadets whose duty performance exceeds that expected of
a Cadet of his/her experience. Recommendations submitted to DJROTC at
the end of the 4th Six Weeks. |
GOOD CONDUCT RIBBON

N-3-10
Awarded to: Cadets who have demonstrated outstanding conduct
throughout the school year. Concurrence must be obtained from each
teacher, homeroom teacher, and SAI. |

SUMMER CAMP PARTICIPATION RIBBON

N-3-11
Awarded to: Cadets who participated in summer camp training.
|
SCHOOL MANUAL OF ARMS RIBBON

N-3-12
Awarded to: Cadets who the best in weekly manual of arms
competitions. Cadets must win the majority of competitions during a
semester. A chart listing the weekly inspection winners will be
posted. Cadet officers are not eligible. |
VARSITY ATHLETIC RIBBON

N-2-1
Awarded to: Annually to Cadets who are active members of the
school athletic team engaged in varsity sports or activities. |
PHYSICAL FITNESS RIBBON

N-2-2
Awarded to: Cadets who achieve 50 points per event during the
Cadet Challenge and achieve a minimum combined score of 250 points. |

JROTC ATHLETIC RIBBON

N-2-3
Awarded to: Annually to Cadets who excel in JROTC athletics,
organized team sports. |
PARADE RIBBON

N-4-1
Awarded to: Cadets who participate in local community parades
approved by the DJROTC. Must participate in two parades to be eligible
for the first award; lamps for additional parades. |
RECRUITING RIBBON

N-4-2
Awarded to: Cadets who recruit two new students to JROTC.
Subsequent awards for each additional student per school year. |
SERVICE RIBBON

N-4-3
Awarded to: Cadets who perform services such as usher at 3
football games or 5 community functions; serve on school hall guard or
flag detail for one semester; post colors for 3 school or community
functions (reported to DJROTC). |
SPECIAL ATTENDANCE &
EXCELLENCE RIBBON

N-4-4
Awarded to: Cadets who attend two of the following three events:
District Inspection, Region Formal Inspection, and Final Review.
Cadets must have outstanding appearance and conduct. Lamps awarded
for each event attended thereafter

SERVICE CITATION

N-3-13
Awarded to: Cadets who are observed by the DJROTC or upon SAI
recommendation as outstandingly efficient to a degree to clearly
surpass all other elements of the parent unit. May be worn as long as
the cadet is a member of the winning unit.
