Battalion Commander
v Prepare for the Command Brief
v Prepare for Military Ball
v Prepare for the District and Federal Inspections
v Develop Parents Club - call parents to set-up meeting
v Responsible for the training, administration , discipline, morale, espirit de corps, and performance of the cadet battalion
v Sets the example for the battalion in appearance, attitude, conduct, bearing, tact, discipline, and performance
v Responsible for advance coordination with the SAI on all matters pertaining to policy and procedure for the battalion
v Exercise supervision of the cadet staff and delegates authority to the staff commensurate with the capabilities of the individual staff officer
and the requirements of the staff job they hold
v Makes recommendations for the promotion/reduction of cadets
v Establish and maintain handover book in AI's Office
Executive Officer
v Responsible for the command of the battalion in the absence of the cadet battalion commander. As such, be familiar with the duties of the
battalion commander
v Coordinate and supervises the cadet staff and ensures that the orders and policies of the cadet battalion commander are carried out
v Receives decisions from the cadet battalion commander and allots detailed work to the appropriate staff officer; makes any necessary
additional decisions within established policies; and checks to ensure that assigned staff actions are carried out properly and in a timely
manner
v Keeps the battalion commander informed of problem areas within the staff and battalion in general and of action taken or recommended
with respect to such problems.
v Merit/Demerit Development - In coordination with the cadet sergeant major, investigates all cadet complaints concerning the
merit/demerit system and makes recommendations to the cadet battalion commander and SAI/AI concerning any irregularities noted

v Establish and maintain handover book in AI's Office
v Performs other duties as the battalion commander directs
Command Sergeant Major
v Senior cadet noncommissioned officer in the battalion and is the battalion commander's advisor concerning enlisted and NCO cadets in
the battalion and makes recommendation concerning promotion/reduction/awards and/or problem areas encountered
v Responsible to the battalion commander for consolidation of attendance rosters at drill and classes and turns them in to the SAI,
battalion commander, and S3
v Assists the S3 in the posting of cadet records, monitoring the merit/demerit system, and aids him in the maintenance of the unit battalion
bulletin board and preparation of classrooms
v Is responsible for the police of the ROTC and drill areas
v Collects and reviews all merits/demerits and posting on cadet JUMS records.
v Assists the Cadet S1 in the supervision of the cadet awards program
v Assists the cadet battalion executive officer in conducting investigation into irregularities and complaints concerning the merit/demerit
system
v Maintain/updates the Proficiency Points Board
v Establish and maintain handover book in the AI's office
Adjutant S1 - Personnel
v Battalion Commander's assistant in matters of personnel and administration
v Publishes orders, directives, or announcements as directed by the battalion commander
v Prepares and maintains current company, class and/or master rosters of the cadet battalion and supervises the maintenance of the cadet
manning board
v Maintains the cadet JROTC files of correspondence and publications to include posting changes. This excludes training and supply
activities
v Supervises the promotion program and insures that qualified personnel appear before the board and/or serves as members of the board
v Aides the cadet S3 AND PAO in the maintenance of the cadet bulletin board
v Complete required actions after each event before departing
v Maintains the cadet battalion library
v Supervises and monitors the awards program in coordination with the cadet sergeant major
v Performs other duties as the battalion commander or executive officer may direct
v Awards and Decorations - Always have prepared for Wednesday or Thursday
v Update JUMS - Activities, awards, counseling consultation, merits/demerits, notes, positions, ranks, recruits
v Each class must have an assist S1
v Establish and maintain handover book
v Maintain handover disk in AI's office
v Take notes during Battalion Commander's Call
Public Affairs Officer
v Battalion commander's assistant concerning matters of recruiting, publicity, physical security, and sensitive items of equipment
v Maintains the cadet battalion history and the maintenance of a pictorial scrapbook of significant events pertaining to the battalion
v Arranges for a photographer to cover unit activities
v Prepares and submits items to school and local newspapers, and any other news media deemed appropriate (Yearbook coordination)
v Advises the battalion commander and SAI on ways and means to improve the acceptance of JROTC on campus
v Maintains and cleans screens and projectors. Advises the SAI of any deficiencies noted.
v Update JUMS - Events
v Performs other duties as assigned by the battalion commander and executive officer

Training S3
v The battalion commander's assistant concerning matters of operations and training
v Maintain the following folders:
v Cadet Challenge – Records Folder
v Plans and Operations – Unit report updates, tasking letters-District Inspection requirement for the color guard
v Co ordinations Folder – Trip approval Form, Gymnasium support for the inspection, etc…
v Prepares and publishes all training schedules and training reports. 4 Weeks ahead / have district sign for Training Schedules
v Stores, maintains, and issues the training aids and reference materials
v Plans for and coordinates all of the battalion's training activities to include field trips, parades, and other extracurricular activities
v Monitors the conduct of drill, and conducts frequent training inspections of cadet classes
v Ensures SAI/AI visitors books are up-to-date
v Update JUMS – fitness, teams and training
v Responsible to ensure the classroom area is properly prepared prior to classes
v Ensures that cadet instructors are properly prepared to give assigned classes
v Responsible for the maintenance and posting of the unit bulletin board in coordination
v Post training schedules on bulletin boards (SGM, MSG, AND Chief's Classrooms)
v Produce parent consent and sponsor request for field trips
v Request for Buses
v Post weekly inspection results
v Establish and maintain handover book in the AI's office
v Performs other duties as assigned by the battalion commander and executive officer
S4 Supply - Duites and SOP
v Battalion commander's assistant concerning matters of supply and logistics
v Stores, maintains, issues, and turn-in of all supplies and reference material as directed by the SAI/AAI
v Maintains accurate supply records to include cadet automated hand receipts, up-to-date inventories, and other such supply actions as
directed by the SAI/AI
v Familiar with supply procedures, requisitioning, turn-in, salvage, laundry, alterations, pick-up, and inventory of equipment
v Update JUMS - Clothing
v Assigns weapons to cadets, supervises the maintenance of weapons and equipment, and maintains records of maintenance performed
within guidelines set by the SAI/AI
v Cleans, organizes and upkeep's the supply and arms room area
v Performs duties as cadet armorer if one is not appointed
v Investigates the loss of issued property - coordinates with SAI
v Establish and maintain handover book in the AI's office
v Performs other duties as assigned by the battalion commander and executive officer

STEP 1 Log on to JUMS

STEP 5 Filter out what you are looking for
ISSUANCE OF CLOTHES
STEP 1 Cadets are sized for Hat, Shirt, Slacks/Trousers, Shoes and NAME TAG ordered. Sizes are placed on 18BNForm 1-1 thru 1-5 and emailed to District.
STEP 2 The SAI/AI calls District for an appointment to pick up clothes. Items are picked up from District and brought back to the 18th BN for issuance.
STEP 3 Clothes are identified and tagged to be issued to cadets. Temporary hand receipts 18THBnForm 1-6 and 1-7 are completed for the cadets to sign.
STEP 4 Issued clothing is put into JUMS see below. Automated hand receipts are printed and placed on top of the temporary hand receipts for the cadets to sign.
STEP 5 Automated hand receipts are signed and placed in the hand receipt binder.

TURN IN OF CLOTHES
STEP 1 Clothes are brought to the supply room for turn in.
STEP 2 The automated hand receipt is pulled to verify the items turned in. If there is any items not turned in another automated hand receipt is completed and the cadet signs for the items not turned in.
STEP 3 Items turned in are returned to Shelf. Returned items are not deleted from the cadets records.
STEP 4 Names of cadets who do not returned clothes are identified at the end of the 1st semester and school year and sent to District.
STEP 5 A Control sheet is started to ensure control of return/non-return of uniforms for possible start of Report of Survey.
RECOVERY OF UNIFORM FROM A STUDENT
THAT LEAVES THE PROGRAM
STEP 1 Get student schedule from the attendance office
STEP 2 Track student down and issue written notice to return uniform NLT 3 days
STEP 3 If uniform is not returned call parent and send notice to dean and teachers on the student schedule
STEP 4 If uniform is not returned start report of survey and place on control sheet

STEP 1 Receive clothes from the cadets
STEP 2 Put tags on uniforms to identify cadet ownership
STEP 3 Complete and sign HISD form 4-8 give to SAI. Separate female and male clothes and put clothes in bags
STEP 4 SAI calls district to get HISD form 4-9 completed
STEP 5 District calls the laundry for pick-up of clothes
STEP 6 Laundry and SAI arrange for pick up time
STEP 7 Laundry people inventory clothes and provide us a receipt
STEP 8 Laundry and returned when cleaned
STEP 9 Laundry is inventoried
STEP 10 Clothes are returned to cadets
REQUEST FOR SUPPLIES
STEP 1 Complete 18thBnForm 1-1 THRU 1-4 email to district
STEP 2 Call district for a pick up time
STEP 3 Pick up and distribute supplies or put in supply room
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
GOVERNMENT AND SCHOOL
Government properties have labels with US Government and serial number on them.
School properties have HISD labels with ID numbers on them
