THE 18TH JROTC BATTALION HEADQUARTERS
OUR HISTORY
Sharpstown High School is located in
southwest Houston in the suburban community of Sharpstown. The
students are from a diverse sector of society with a myriad of family
income ranging from the affluent to subsistence. The school had its
initial ground breaking in the spring of 1968 at 8300 Triola Street, and
moved to the current location in the fall on 1970. The initial
enrollment of 10th through 12th graders was 752 currently the school’s
enrollment is 1700 students of the 9th through 12th grades. The Sharpstown
High School has developed a Leadership Magnet program that was created in
the 1994 -1995 school year.
Overwhelming support is provided by the
principal, administrators, and faculty to the JROTC program which
officially opened in the 1994 - 1995 school year under Block Scheduling;
currently we are under the traditional schedule. The Battalion
currently has 140 enthusiastic cadets.
The 18th JROTC
Battalion was established in 1994 with initial enrollment of 172 cadets. During the past six years the JROTC Battalion has experienced growth and outstanding support from the
faculty and staff of Sharpstown High School. The Drill Teams and
Color Guards have won numerous awards and are well respected in the
community. The battalion participates in many community events to
include parades and competitions. In the spring the battalion holds
an annual military ball to provide an opportunity for cadets to
participate in a formal social function. |

=====================
JROTC
CREED
I
am an Army JROTC cadet. I will always
conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school, and the
corps of cadets. I am loyal and patriotic. I am the future of the United
States of America. I do not lie, cheat, or steal and will always be
accountable for my actions and deeds. I will always practice good
citizenship and patriotism. I will work hard to improve my mind and
strengthen my body. I will seek the mantle of leadership and stand
prepared to uphold the Constitution and the American way of life. May god
grant me the strength to always live by this creed.
