Students must have a Project GRAD Scholarship contract on file with the Scholarship Coordinator to be eligible to participate in the College Institutes.

Project GRAD Scholarship Program

What is the Project GRAD Scholarship Program?

The Project GRAD Scholarship Program is designed to give young people a chance to succeed and to give the community a chance to become involved.  The program assists students by providing a $4,000 scholarship to be used for tuition and other college related expenses. The scholarship program has staff available to assist students and parents with access to higher education.

Who is eligible for the $4000 Scholarship?

 

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must:

·         sign and parents must sign the Project GRAD Scholarship Contract and submit to the high school scholarship coordinator

  • complete all of the HISD academic requirements for the Recommended or Distinguished Achievement Plans, as follows:

                                             4 Credits- English                         2 Credits-Language other than English

                                             4 Credits- Math                             1 Credit-Technology Applications

                                             4 Credits-Science                         3.5 Credits-Physical Education (1.5), Fine Arts (1), Speech (0.5), Health (0.5)

                                             4 Credits -Social Studies            3.5 Credits Electives

  • ake the PSAT College Entrance Exam during the sophomore or junior year of high school
  • have at least a 2.5 overall grade point average upon graduation
  • must begin high school at John H. Reagan High School  and graduate from John H. Reagan High School  in four years or less
  • enroll in an accredited college or university within one year of graduation from John H. Reagan High School
  • complete two Project GRAD approved college institutes, or pre-approved equivalent programs
