Subject: Reagan’s Attendance Policy En Español Dear Reagan Parent: This is to inform you of Reagan’s Attendance Policy. The following are Reagan’s and the State of Texas current attendance guidelines. All students are expected to attend school regularly and be on time for all classes in order to benefit from the instructional program offered at Reagan High School (HS). Parents may call the Attendance Office at (713) 865-4464 if they suspect their child may be missing school without their permission. Reagan HS will notify parents once a student has missed more than three (3) days in a semester. In order to achieve this, the school must have a correct telephone number from either: the mother, the father, or the guardian. It is the parents’ responsibility to notify the Attendance Office if any changes occur during the school year and for their child’s attendance. If changes have occurred, you may report these changes in person to the Attendance Office. You may call the Attendance Office for information on the appropriate documentation needed to update your contact information. Attendance Guidelines TEC 25.092 states that “a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered.” This includes excuse and unexcused absences. Your child can not be late more than 15 minutes to class. Unexcused Absences Students will lose credit if they have accumulated more than four unexcused absences in an 18-week semester. In order to receive credit for the class, unexcused absences will not be reviewed by the Attendance Committee if the student has demonstrated irresponsible behavior. Only extenuating circumstances will be reviewed by the Attendance Committee. If your child is a senior, this will impact their graduation plans. (Students 18 years or older can be administratively withdrawn from Reagan High School once the student has reached five unexcused absences.) Hand-Written Excuse Notes Parents will only be allowed to write three (3) hand-written notices per semester to justify absences. After the third hand-written notice, a parent must provide Reagan HS with an official notice from a Doctor, Dentist, Court, Funeral, or from a professional organization. Hogg Middle School houses a low income clinic that can assist you if you are in need of health provider. If you have questions about this letter, you may contact the Attendance Office by phone at (713) 865-4463. Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely, |
