  To foster a community that awakens creativity and the appreciation of artistic expression through challenging academic coursework.         

ACADEMY POLICIES: standards and expectations for the academy students in addition to school wide policies (student handbook); steps to realize these standards

 

Tardiness  

3 = 30min detention; each successive tardy earns the student a 30-min detention; NO SHOW = teacher referral.

Absences (include attendance goal)

95% goal overall 2 consecutive = call 3 consecutive = attendance referral

Electronics  

 l = warning, 2 = take away, 3 = referral

ID’s 

All ID’s to be worn at all times:  3 infractions = warning, 4 or more will result in detention for each successive infraction. Students late to class for getting an ID will be counted tardy.

Food/Drink/gum

Open for discussion

Late Work  

Each teacher’s policy will be outlined in his/her syllabus.

Make-up Work  

Must be turned in within five days upon returning to school.

Tutorials  

Options open to individual teacher Q: What is the basic expectation?      Each teacher should hold weekly tutorials.

Restroom Use  

Provide each student with 3 restroom passes per semester, per teacher.

Dress Code  

Open to suggestions = Needs revision - consistent consequences for inappropriate attire.

Detention  

All of the above One detention per day = teacher rotation.  Time scheduled am,  noon, after school.  Teacher choice of time and held in his/her room.

Recognition  

Extra credit = perfect attendance Special Certificates of appreciation T-Shirts with Academy LOGO Announcements = extraordinary community svc.(clarify) Other acknowledgements:
