BOOK REPORT CARD

 

This book report should following the following requirements:

Illustration of some important scene in the book

Title of the book

Author

Type of book e.x. fiction, biography, etc.

Your name

 

INFORMATION SIDE

Title of the book, underlined

Summary which begins with an indentation. No more than 20 sentences. IT MUST BE TYPED.

A statement about either 1. how this book affected you, or 2. what you learned by reading this book

Everything must fit on the index card I give to you. Your book report will not be accepted if it is not on this index card. You may cut and paste your summary and/or picture.

 

 

ILLUSTRATED BOOK REPORT

THE BIG PICTURE:

On one side of an 8 ½ by 11 white piece of paper you will completely illustrate a major event in the story, include the title, author, type of book, and your name. Additionally, you will need to summarize the novel and state the theme of what you read.

BOOK REPORT SANDWICH

For this book report, you will need to follow this criteria:

1. On the top slice of bread, (tan square), write the title and the author of the book. You should also include your name here. You may illustrate as desired on this piece of the sandwich.

2. On the lettuce (the green square), write a five sentence summary of the novel.

3. On the tomato slice (the red square), write about the main character using author’s techniques for characterization.

4. On the mayonnaise slice (the white square), describe the main setting of this novel and justify that selection.

5. On the swiss cheese slice (the yellow square), write about the climax of the story. This is the major problem in the story. It is a pivotal event in the novel.

6. On the ham slice (the brown square), write about the plot of the novel. Remember major events make up the plot.

7. On the bottom slice of bread, (tan square), draw your favorite scene from the story.

Please be sure that this is a quality piece of work and that you have been thorough and complete in addressing the above-mentioned criteria.

 

 

BOOK REPORT – SELL IT

 

You are the publicist for this novel. In a 60 second speech, you will need to persuade other students that they should read the book. You may use visual aids, costumes, or anything else that you believe will "Sell" this novel.

 

 

BOOK IN A BAG, ENVELOPE, OATMEAL BOX

FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1. Select a container: this may be a plastic bag, manila envelope, can, oatmeal box, or any other object appropriate for a book report.

2. Decorate your container to convey some of the major details, elements, or themes found in the book

3. Insert the contents:

a. Write ten questions based on the book. Five of the questions can be about general content, but the other five must require more thinking.

b. Create a ten-word glossary of unfamiliar words from the novel.

c. Include five things that have a connection to the story. These may include personal, text to text, or text to world.

d. Bonus points will be awarded for the addition of literary elements such as foreshadowing, irony, personification, or flashbacks, etc.

 

 

 

BOOK REPORT – LETTER TO THE AUTHOR

After reading your novel, write a letter to the author with your reaction to the story. In this letter, state reasons why you enjoyed the story, any questions you may have, or any thing else you may want to add. This should be at least three paragraphs in length.

 

 

BOOK REPORT IN PICTURE BOOKS

For your novel, you will need to create a picture book version of the story that would appeal to younger students. This should be done with no less than 10 pages that highlight the major events of the story.

You will need to illustrate each page to correlate with what has been written on that page.

 

 

 

BOOK IN A BOX

1. Write the summary of your book. Proofread!!!

2. Divide it into 8-10 somewhat equal parts.

3. Triple space between sections.

4. Cut and paste sections onto accordion folded construction paper.

5. Save the first folded area for the book title, author and your name.

6. Glue the last section into a box (check book boxes work well).

7. Place diorama type figures in the bottom of the box.

8. Decorate the top of the box, making sure the name of the book, title, and your name are included.

9. Turn it in as a quality product.
