Repurposing News & Information

The HISD campus formerly known as Sam Houston High School is currently undergoing a state-mandated restructuring after being ranked “Academically Unacceptable” by the Texas Education Agency for six consecutive years.

The school was ordered to close by the Texas Commissioner of Education in June 2008, but HISD Superintendent of Schools Abelardo Saavedra is working closely with the Board of Education, other district administrators, members of the community and parents, and the commissioner’s office to reorganize the school for the 2008–2009 school year.
