The Houston Independent School District has chosen DeBakey HSHP to be a pilot school for its new online initiative - "The Source". The Source gives registered students a district email (for school business use only) and also gives students and parents access to progress report grades, report card grades, class schedule, attendance information and helpful resource information any time from their home computer.

Before beginning the registration process, parents and students will need the following information.

• Parent's first name
• Parent's last name
• Student's ID number
• Student's first name
• Student's last name
• Student's middle initial
• the last 4 digits of the student's social security number (if not on file with HISD, check not available)
• Student's date of birth
• Student's address

Please note, if any of the information above does not match the school records, you will not be able to complete the self-registration process.

Once you have gathered this information, go to The Source Website to register. There you you will see tabs for Students, Parents and Employees. Select the appropriate tab and you will see a section of First Time Users. Clicking in this section will begin the registration process. The registration process has 4 parts:

1. Sign-up (verifies the student data and student-parent relationship)

1. Read the Acceptable Use Agreement (information is also in the Code of Student Conduct and the DeBakey HSHP Time Tracker)
2. Enter the required information

2. Get a username

1. Students - write down the system generated username
2. Parents - create a username

3. Register user name (create the password for portal access and create security question and answers for password resets in the future)
4. Log into The Source

If you have trouble registering

Parents can call the HISD Helpdesk at (713) 892-7378 or send and e-mail to thesourcehelp@houstonisd.org to receive help with the following:

1. Assistance with Registration for Parent Zone - attempted online registration, and were unsuccessful twice, or do not have ready access to an Internet connected computer.
2. Assistance with Password Reset - already attempted to reset online, or do not have ready access to an Internet connected computer.
3. General Questions about The Source or Parent Zone.

Please note that when you click the validate button, you only have three attempts to submit information correctly; otherwise your profile will be disabled. If you get an error message after clicking the validate button, please read the messages carefully and make the necessary corrections before clicking again. If you're not successful after three attempts, please contact at the Help Desk at 713-892-SERV or via email at thesourcehelp@houstonisd.org.
