REGISTRAR’S OFFICE
Transcripts
A transcript is an official record of a student’s grades, credits and standardized test results, and are most often requested when applying for admission to a college or university. Transcripts are sent at the request of a student or parent ONLY, not at the request of another school.
Official transcripts bear a seal and are sent in a sealed envelope. If opened by anyone other than the addressee, the transcript is no longer considered official.
Students wishing to see their cumulative grades and credits should ask their dean for a counselor’s report instead of requesting an “unofficial” transcript. In addition to saving time and money, this allows the Registrar’s Office to process the official college transcripts in a timely manner.
REQUESTING A TRANSCRIPT
Transcript Request Forms are available in the Registrar’s Office (A-116) and on our website. There is a $1 charge per transcript, payable in cash only.
- During the school year, please allow 3 working days for a transcript to be processed and mailed.
- During the summer, students or parents will be able to request transcripts in the Main Office; please allow 7 working days as we have limited staff at that time. Also, remember that no staff is available to prepare transcripts in July.
- Please remember that universities and the NCAA Clearinghouse take a minimum of 10 working days to process transcripts once they have been received.

A Final Transcript is the transcript that bears the date of graduation. Please note that Final Transcripts will not be mailed until the end of the second week of June after all end of year updates are completed. The Registrar’s Office has contacted various universities, and deadlines for Final Transcripts are prior to the start of the Fall Semester.
NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE
The NCAA Clearinghouse will not accept personally mailed transcripts; they must be mailed from the Registrar. In addition, any addresses on the transcripts are not used to mail out information. NCAA Clearinghouse is what the name implies. It is a clearinghouse and does not generate scholarships; that is dependent on the universities to which a student is applying.
Please remember that the NCAA Clearinghouse does require that the Registrar send a copy of a student’s release form. This form is available on the NCAA website. The Registrar’s Office needs two of these release forms – one is mailed with the first transcript, and the second is mailed when the student graduates at the end of the school year.
CLASS RANK
Preliminary class rank is calculated through the junior year and completed in October of the senior year. This is the rank that will appear on college admission transcripts. The final rank includes grades through the end of the fall semester of the senior year and is released in February. Some colleges require a mid-year report and transcript; students are responsible for completing this report and for requesting that a second transcript be sent. As part of the senior check-out in May, seniors will submit a request to send their final transcript to the college they choose to attend.
DIPLOMAS
Diplomas and panoramic pictures will be available for pick-up in June. Please call or use the website calendar for dates and times. Remember, an ID is required to pickup your diploma!
SUMMER GRADUATES
Please contact the Registrar in June for the summer graduation date and deadline for satisfying summer graduation requirements. Since we do not have accurate phone numbers for all the Summer School graduate candidates, please send an email to cstento@houstonisd.org the first week in August for confirmation that you have completed the requirements for graduation.
