Girls’ soccer includes both a Varsity and Junior Varsity Team. We play a very competitive non-district schedule.

TRY OUT PROCEDURES AND ACTIVITY FEES
Incoming upper classmen should meet with the head coach before enrolling in any of the two athletic periods and obtain written permission to give to a counselor in order to be entered into either class. Incoming freshmen may register for 7th period soccer only and may do so without first meeting with the head coach. All students entering soccer will be on a two week probationary period to determine the status of remaining in the class, after which time the student will be asked to either remain in the soccer period or change their schedule into another class. Determining factors will be the student’s work ethic in the classroom and on the field, their daily preparation, overall attitude and soccer playing ability. All students must have a COMPLETED physical BEFORE joining the class.
Activity Fees: Initial Activity Fee is $50 for entering the class and an additional $50 upon making either of the two teams in December. All activity fees go towards uniforms, busses, game officials and post or pre-game meals.
Tryouts will be open to all students interested in playing immediately after school December 1st 2008. (Always the first Monday following Thanksgiving)
Please remember that all athletes must submit the required athletic packet forms referred to under General Information.
PRACTICES
Work outs begin the first day of school. All students should come ready to play by bringing a plain grey t-shirt, black shorts, shin guards, cleats, and running shoes. After school practices begin Monday December 1st (always the first Monday following Thanksgiving) and will continue every school day until the last game is played. Note: Some junior varsity players may be asked to stay and practice with the varsity at any time including when the JV season has ended. There will be a few practices during the Christmas break and there WILL BE GAMES AND WORKOUTS DURING SPRING BREAK. Games begin January 1st and may continue into April.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations to our Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team who finished 2nd in District (19-8-0 overall and 11-3-0 in District play)! Special recognition goes to the following players who received All-District Honors:
Senior Spencer Laufer was named Offensive Player of the Year; Lisa White, Alyson Carralez, Lindsay Becker, Jennifer Contreras and Heather Hubbard were selected 1st Team; Sophie Moore, Ijeoma Osueke, Karen Lobo, Samantha Felix and Gabby Weierback made 2nd Team; and Honorable Mention went to Gami Barzkar.
Girls’ Soccer Camp
Monday June 1 - Thursday June 4
8:30-11:30am
This camp is open to all incoming 6th - 9th grade girls. The cost is $55. Additional information can be obtained through Coach Walters at dwalters@houstonisd.org.
