FOOTBALL

footballFootball is a program based on a student athlete’s future.  We are here to provide this sport in a powerful realm that can be a life changing experience.  It will be a change in discipline, work ethics and thought process.  It is a contact sport that demands the team effort first— based on the individual effort to be a member of the team—and an understanding of their role second.  Emotions will be tested and the heart of the individual will be expected to “Beat the Blue.”
Being a part of the Houston Independent School District offers many opportunities for goodwill efforts to support those student athletes who are working to better themselves and our community. Student athletes, who are supported, not only by their schools but the local business community, give returns that are immeasurable. Read how you can support our athletes in our Football Sponsor Letter and Sponsor Program.

TRY-OUT PROCEDURE AND ACTIVITY FEES

There are no try-outs for football; we accept all participants to play the game.  We ask that the student athlete be in the athletic period (see below) to grow as an athlete.  Please remember that P.E. is a class but Athletics is a program; it is a privilege, not a service.
There is a $75 activity fee for football.  $35 of the $75 will go to insurance, which covers $5 million in catastrophic injuries (secondary coverage to your primary or primary if you do not have insurance).  The remaining $40 goes to the activity fee which covers meals, cloth goods, banquet, and letter jacket commitments.

In addition to the required athletic packet forms referred to under General Information football players will need to submit a signed Football Rules and Procedures Form.

PRACTICES

Our athletic period is 5th period which is 11:40 – 1:00 Monday, Tuesday, and Friday and 11:10 – 1:00 on Wednesday.  The freshmen have 7th period Athletics from 2:20 – 3:10.  Our daily practice after school is from 4:00-5:30.  Our freshmen will be done daily at 4:00.
