Library Usage Guidelines for Teachers:
- Teachers may bring their class to the library for book check out and research. Advise the library staff in advance of the purpose of your visit and prepare your class with basic research guidelines before scheduling a trip to the library. The classroom sign-up sheet is located on the right side of the blue circulation desk. Due to the lack of computers, only one class may reserve the library. Remember that many students use the library at any given time, so use may be limited. Student DISCIPLINE is the responsibility of the teacher while his/her class is present. Help us maintain a quiet, user-friendly environment.
- Teachers may send NO MORE THAN FIVE students with an official library pass and ID to the library at one time. Passes for individual students are valid for 30 minutes. Students with passes may be asked to return to class if the library is at capacity. Passes need to be signed by the sending teacher, dated, timed and a clearly stated reason for the visit written on the pass. Please require that students have the library staff note the departure time on the pass.
- All computers in the library have the WHS Library OPAC (On-line Public Access Catalog) available for searching library materials. A web-based catalog is also available for browsing our collection off campus.
- The library staff will come to your class to assist with research and present library lessons. Contact Kathy Forbes at kforbes@houstonisd.org for more information.
- If there is a title/author not available in the WHS collection, e-mail Steve Harrison at sharris2@houstonisd.org and he will attempt to order the item.
AV Guidelines for Teachers:
- You may check out up to 10 books AND 2 videos at one time. ALL videos must be approved by administration. Please provide approval documentation.
- Adhere to the two-week timeline for returning books and videos.
- If you have finished with WHS Library materials sooner than the two-week period, please return ASAP so that others may utilize the items.
- AV equipment check-out is available through the library. There is a sign-up sheet on the right side of the circulation desk. Give at least 48 hours notice. Equipment is available on a first come basis. Return equipment at the end of each day.
- The library is located in L100.
- Copies are .10 each.
- Printing from the computers is available for .10 per page. Do NOT press the printer icon. Instead, go to file and print, then select the number of pages that you would like to print. Patrons are responsible for all pages printed.
- ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A SIGNED LIBRARY PASS TO ENTER THE LIBRARY AT ANY TIME! A pass is good for 30 minutes.
- No FOOD or DRINKS in the library (Including GUM or CANDY).
The following rules apply to students only:
- Three books may be checked out for two weeks.
