VISITOR PARKING

Visitors to the Westside Campus should park in the Circle Drive off Briar Forest in the spaces designated for that purpose. Please do not park in reserved spaces or the fire lane! If the Circle Drive lot is full, you may park in the adjacent lot in front of the school EXCEPT during the hours of 7:30-8:30 am and 2:30-4:00 pm on school days when the lot is reserved for school buses only.

If you are attending a school event after 4:00 pm, you may park in any Westside lot but please be aware that the gates on both the Student Lot and Faculty Lot at the rear of the school will be locked at 9:00 pm.

STUDENT PARKING
School Year 2008-09

There is a limited amount of parking on the city streets around campus. It is strongly recommended that students who drive to school purchase a parking space in our Student Parking Lot. Students with off-campus privileges MUST park in the Student Lot if they intend to exercise those privileges during the school day. Students may NOT park in any other campus parking lot!

STUDENT PARKING APPLICATION

Student must complete and return the Student Parking Application accompanied by the documents listed below to Mr. Catchings in South 207. Copies will be made and originals will be returned to the student at the time of registration. Students will be issued parking permits that MUST be displayed in the front window of their car (near state issued stickers). In addition, reserved PTO parking permits MUST be displayed hanging from the rear view mirror if the car is parked in a reserved PTO parking space. By submitting the application, the student acknowledges and agrees to park only in authorized parking spaces and understands that any car parked in an unauthorized space may be towed at the owner’s expense.         

  1. Student’s valid Texas driver’s license and Westside ID card
  2. Proof of insurance (The student’s name and vehicle identified above must be indicated on the insurance card.)
  3. Current vehicle registration (License plate renewal receipt). An auto dealer’s bill of sale may substitute if the car was purchased within the past 12 months.
  4. Parking Permit Fee (Cash Only) Note: The PTO sponsors 78 reserved parking spaces closest to the school building (PTO accepts cash & checks).  Only students who display their PTO reserved parking permits may park in these reserved PTO parking spaces. A student with a school assigned parking permit must park in the space that is indicated on the tag number assigned to him/her. Example Tag # 200 will park in the spot numbered 200 in the Student Parking Lot. Any car parked in the wrong space will be towed at owner’s expense. If there is a problem in the parking lot see Mr. Catchings or Ms. Vargas in S207 immediately.
  5. $75 if requesting a school assigned parking space ($40 from March to May)
  6. $125 if requesting a PTO Reserved parking space (Sold only by the PTO)

RULES OF THE STUDENT PARKING LOT:  (How to Park Legally)

  1. Student’s must have a completed application on file with Mr. Catchings in South 207 and be paid in full.
  2. Attend a mandatory Traffic and Safety Class by Officer Alaniz during orientation. If you miss orientation or buy a sticker after orientation you must make an appointment with Officer Alaniz to take the class. 
  3. Obey all State Traffic Laws and School Policies.
  4. Any violation may result in forfeiture of your parking rights on WHS property and off campus privileges removed. Parking fees will not be refunded.

FACTS OF THE STUDENT PARKING LOT:

  1. PTO Reserved Spots are spaces 1-78. Only vehicles with PTO Reserved Permits are allowed to park in this area. All others will be towed at owner’s expense.
  2. The rest of the Student Parking Lot is assigned parking spots by tag number. This is on a first come first serve basis. For example if the tag # issued to you is number 200 you can legally park in spot # 200 only!
  3. Your car will be towed at owner’s expense if you park in another student’s space or another area of the school (teacher parking lot, horseshoe, bus parking lot, Outback lot, or loading zone) without notice. This is your warning!
  4. If your car is in the shop or you get a new car it is your responsibility to see Mr. Catchings or Ms. Vargas to get a temporary parking sticker immediately. This temporary sticker must be visible at all times. This is the student’s responsibility. Your car could/will be towed if no sticker is visible.
  5. If you have more than one car or vehicle that you will drive to school you will be issued a hanging tag that is laminated. It is the student’s responsibility to have this visible at all times and move it from car to car. Your car could/will be towed if no sticker is visible.
  6. If you have any questions you need to see Mr. Catchings immediately in South 207.
  7. PTO Reserved Parking Permits will be available for sale by the PTO on August 20, 2008 and at the Back-to-School Bash. These are first come first serve.
  8. Westside High School assigned parking permits will go on sale August 20, 2008. These will be sold throughout the school year in South 207.
