The Attendance Office keeps all attendance records on every
Westbury student. All notes from parents regarding absences,
tardies to school, leaving school early, etc., are to be
brought to the attendance office before the first class of the
day and within three (3) days of the students absent. It is
required (district policy) that there be accurate, working
phone numbers to contact the parents of every student enrolled
in school. New or changed phone numbers must be updated with
the attendance office immediately. Failure to do so could
result in unexcused absences for students when parents cannot
be reached to verify note.
Regular Attendance and punctuality are required of every
student. Students are required by law to attend school until
the student has completed the academic year in which his
eighteenth birthday occurs. The following are excusable
reasons for absence and entitle students to make up
assignments missed during their absences:
1. Personal illness
2. Illness or death in the immediate family
3. Quarantine
4. Serious personal or family problems with approval of the
Principal or Assistant Principal.
5. Prior approval from Principal’s office.
