Go Center

What in the world is a “Go Center” anyway?  Go represents- “Education:  Go Get IT.”   A Go Center is a college and career transition center.  It is a physical space within each high school that provides students with information about higher education, financial aid, and career opportunities.

College Information

The Booker T. Washington/HSEP Go Center is located in room C-114.  The College Access Coordinator is Mrs. Patti Swinson.

The Go Center has also become home to the Talent Search Program.  Talent Search prepares students for higher education by providing students with college, career, and financial aid exploration activities through group workshops and individual advising.  The Talent Search Program is open to all students who demonstrate need for Talent Search services.  All participants must show economic need and be the first in their family to attend college.  Ms. Tracie May of Talent Search assists students in the Go Center on Thursdays, 9:00A.M. – 12:00P.M.

Students can use the Go Center to:
.  Explore careers and take career interest assessments
.  Register for the SAT and ACT tests
        .  Investigate and explore colleges
        .  Fill-out college applications
.  Research and apply for scholarships
        .  Complete financial aid forms
        .  Conduct job searches

The Go Center is open to ALL Students.

When are students allowed to use the Go Center?
The Go Center is available to students throughout the day.  Teachers are encouraged to send students to the Go Center when they have completed classroom assignments.  The success of the Go Center depends upon your support!!  The Go Center is for every student regardless of how prepared they are for college or whether they are already on the college track; indeed the Go Center is here to help all students prepare for the life after high school.

9th Grade – These students will complete career interest surveys, learn about what they need to do to prepare for college, and get exposure to higher educational institutions in the area.

10th Grade – These students will continue to explore career options, prepare for the PSAT, and begin researching universities that match their interests.

11th Grade – These students will further identify colleges and careers of interest, register for the SAT and ACT tests, and start their scholarship research.

12th Grade – This is a critical time for students!!  Seniors will register for the SAT and ACT, apply to their colleges of choice, research and apply for scholarships, and apply for federal and state financial aid.
