The Peers Mentoring Peers Program or PMP Program at Waltrip Senior High School was created on the basis of easing the transition from middle school to high school for freshmen students. In this program, upperclassmen (sophomore, junior, and senior students) serve as mentors and facilitate Freshmen Seminar classes weekly; therefore, allowing these older students to become, for many, the first people that they become friends with in high school.
Along with participating in numerous in-school events, Peers Mentoring Peers strives to become a visible member of improving the community. Community events that the program has participated in include: Christmas and Thanksgiving Toy Drives, MD Anderson MS Walk-a-thon, Community Garage Sale, and much, much, more.
Our organization is working continually to improve and grow to its full potential. We look forward to making an lifelong impact among the students of our school and community. |
