REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP:

• Either a sophomore or junior at the time of selection
• A 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• No less than an S in conduct in any course
• Membership in at least two on-campus or off-campus organizations, which must be verified in writing by the sponsor of such organizations.
• Unanimous approval of the administrators, faculty, and staff of Waltrip High School; students not receiving        unanimous approval will be reviewed before the Faculty Council of the National Honor Society to determine eligibility.

MEETINGS: Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 in the Library

SERVICE

Community: Students will have an opportunity to serve their community by working at the Houston Food Bank.

School: Waltrip NHS members have been diligently picking up recycled papers from all classrooms and offices.  Students are encouraged to sign up for two dates this school year to pick up recycling.  Please see Mr. Randolph for dates and times available.  Service hours are awarded for those who participate

Individual: Each member must supply twenty-five individual service hours. In the past, members have helped with church repairs, done baby-sitting for free, helped in community clean-ups, and volunteered at the local hospital, among other services. If all our members serve their required hours, we should total 2,500 hours.
