Course Syllabus


Course Description

Students learn to apply math, selling, technology, human relations and communication concepts in a marketing context. Students develop interpersonal skills, and research employment trends. There is a work based component.

Prerequisites

The students need to be a junior or senior, at least 16 years old, good attendance, and good conduct record.

  5. Powerpoint

Supplies

The students need to bring #2 pencil, pen, and paper to class every day.

Course Objectives

The students will be able to do the following:

Objectives

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the purpose and goals of the marketing functions.
  2. Demonstrate how to complete a sale using the correct
  3. Analyze and calculate an income statement and balance sheet  
  4. Set up a spreadsheet using Excel on the computer.
  5. Analyze the attributes of several visual merchandising displays.
  6. Demonstrate the human relations and communications skills needed to acquire and maintain employment in a marketing career.
  7. Calculate and analyze markup, markdowns, price extensions, and making change. 
  8. Set up a slide presentation using power point on the computer.
