I Getting Started
1. Launch Netscape.
2. Launch the Netscape's composer by selecting the icon from the bottom right tool pallet.
II Creating a Table.
1. From the tool bar select the Table icon.
2. Fill in the information needed to create a table that has two columns and 2 rows.
3. Select center for Table alignment.
4. De-select the Table widths check box and the equal column widths check box.
5. Select Apply and close.
6. In the top right cell of the table type a brief paragraph about yourself or your program.
7. Each participant will be assigned a number. Save your page in the following format: tech(your number).html
III Inserting an image from disk.
1. Select the top left cell of your table.
2. Select the Insert Image icon from the tool bar.
3. Select Choose File.
4. Go to your disk.
5. Choose the MVC file we created.
6. Select open
7. Select OK
8. Place the Cursor on the image and hold down the mouse button until a menu appears.
9. Select Image Info.
11. Select Custom Size
12. Change:
Height to: 120
Width to: 160
13. Select OK
14. Save your changes.
IV Publishing. (Note we will be publishing to the ATTE web site)
1. Bring your splash page to the front.
2. Select publish from the main tool bar.
3. You will be prompted for some information.
4. In the box "Publish files to this Location", type in the following:
ftp://www.neosoft.com/pub/users/a/atte
5. For user name: ATTE
6. I will enter the password for you.
7. Select the button Files associated with this page
8. Select Publish. This will upload all files associated with this page to the server.
9. Go to the browser window.
10 In the location window type in the following URL:
http://www.neosoft.com/~atte/tech1.html
V Editing an existing page.
1. From your browser window go to the page you created as above.
2. Select File/Edit Page from the menu.
3. Type into the bottom left cell on your page the following:
The ATTE Web Site
4. Highlight the text ATTE.
5. Go to the Insert Link icon in the tool bar.
6. Type in the following in the link location box:
http://www.neosoft.com/~atte
7. In the bottom right box type in the name of one of the class mates.
8. Highlight their name and it link to their splash page.
Example: http://www.neosoft.com/atte/tech1.html
9. Save your changes.
10. Publish.
VI Uploading up a document to be downloaded by users.
1. Open your splash page in the composer (You are going to edit.)
2. Insert your cursor in the bottom cell of your table.
3. Hold down the mouse until you get a menu.
4. Select insert row. ( This will add a row to the table)
5. In the bottom left cell type in PIC handout (Mac, MS Works)
6. In the bottom right cell type in PIC handout (PC, Word)
7. Save the file to the folder on your disk called Handouts.
8. Highlight the text in the left bottom cell and link it to the picmac file in the handout folder.
9. Highlight the text in the bottom right cell and link it to the picpc file in the handout folder.
10. Save
11. Select publish
12. In the box titled pages to include, select all files in page's folder.
13. Select publish. This will upload the documents in the folder that you linked to your splash page.
