Waltrip poets again were accepted for publication in a national anthology. This is their first participation in the summer contest, but their success wasn’t a surprise. This publication is selective and chooses only poems of merit.
Congratulations to: Katie Andres, Katherine Miner, Glendy Lara, Martha Osores, Lauren Messina, Kristina Deleon, Molly Richey, Jennifer Millar, Kristen Ayala, Jessica Martinez, Alyssa Hatch, Pam Straker, Yany Aguirre and our foreign exchange student from the Ukraine Arslan Tayliyev. All of these students are in AP English.

Free online service to help kids prepare for TAKS
The University of Texas System has developed a website called TRACK (TAKS Readiness and Core Knowledge) which is a free online service that features diagnostic tests and interactive learning materials to help 11th graders prepare for the statewide TAKS test, which they must pass in order to graduate from high school.
The website, www.track.uttelecampus.org , was developed entirely with private funds contributed by Houston Endowment Inc. and the Meadows Foundation. A team of high school teachers and university professors was assembled to help design the materials on the website, which is being made accessible through the UT TeleCampus.
Attention: All students who drive to school must obtain a valid Waltrip parking sticker in order to park your vehicle on campus. This parking sticker may be purchased from the Waltrip finance office for a fee of $20.00.
On campus parking is available only to 11th and 12th grade students. Proof of current liability insurance and a valid driver's license is required. If you have any questions please call (713) 688-1361 ext 350.
