Grade Placement: 9-12
Prerequisite: Keyboarding
PEIMS: 11601501
Credit: 1/2-1 unit
Computer Applications is a course designed as an introduction to how the computer serves
the needs of society. This activity-based course focuses on the application of computers
in communication, energy, and production technology. Emphasis is placed on construction,
programming, equipment operation, applications, and the socioeconomic impact of computers
on industry. Students apply computer technology to computer numerically controlled
machines, artificial intelligence, modems, plotters, machine tools, robots, and
programmable controllers.

Manufacturing Systems is a course designed to introduce the concepts of manufacturing and construction technology. Students organize and manage a production enterprise. Students use computer equipment to design and manage production processes. Production material-processing equipment is used to produce a product. In the construction component, students focus on preconstruction, construction, and postconstruction practices and the management techniques used in the industry.
