Egg Drop Challenge

Objective:  To design a device that will hold an egg and prevent it from cracking when dropped from a distance of 7 feet.

1.    Materials:

• Egg

• 30” Masking Tape or Sheet of mailing labels

• 8 Popsicle Sticks

• 2 sheets of paper

• 1 piece of cardboard

• 10 Drinking Straw

2.    Rules:  

• Work with a partners.

• You do not have to use all the materials. 

• You must build the package first. The egg will be placed in the package by the instructor. 

• The device will be dropped by the instructor. 

• You will have one class period to complete the project. 

• Both partners will participate in designing and building the package.

3.    Grading: Students are graded in three areas: design, how the affective the design is and did it protect the egg.
