Float Your Boat

The objective of this project is to design and engineer a Boat that will stay afloat and hold the most weight

Time: One class period.

Instructions:

1. You will work in teams of two.
2. You will have 40 minutes to complete this activity.
3. The boat cannot be attached to anything (free floating).
4. Students cannot hold the Boat while the weights are being placed inside.
5. Maximum boat size is 6" X 8" at it base.

Evaluation:

• Most weight held = 100
• Least weight held = 70
• No weights held = 65
• No boat = 50
