Ms. Nelson was born in Houston, TX. She attended and graduated from Jack Yates High School. She lived and studied in Mexico for many summers.  She attended the University of Cohahuila in the city of Saltillo during many summers in Mexico. She attended the University of Houston focusing studies on (ESL) English as a second Language and Bilingual Education. Tested by the Texas Education agency she received a 4.5 fluency test score on a 5.0 grade point scale. For six years she taught English as a second language to a majority of Spanish speaking students in the Houston Community College.  Her superiors have commended her initiative, positive attitude, professional appearance and her ability to handle many complex situations. Her strong artistic skills used in sewing and designing have opened the door for a personal professional business venture. And presently Ms. Nelson is teaching the International Baccalaureate Spanish classes and the sponsor of the Spanish National Honor Society here at Waltrip High School.
