THE FANTASTIC
HEALTH AND HUMAN RESOURCES ACADEMY
OF WALTRIP HIGH SCHOOL, HOUSTON, TEXAS
Health and Human Services is about helping people. Our students learn about careers in health occupations and social services.
The HHS students study many topics to prepare for their careers. Some of the topics are body systems, medical terminology, nutrition, human and child development, and early childhood education.
Community activities are also geared to the HHS field. Students take field trips to the Health Museum, to area early childhood centers, and in 2006 to the “Body Works” exhibit at the Natural Science Museum. Our organizations, FCCLA, HOSA, and TAFE club, help connect us to the professional and social aspects of HHS. Moreover they, with the support of other Waltrip Students, have volunteered in area health fairs and have sponsored a health fair at Waltrip.
Obviously, we learn a lot. But, we also know how to have a good time! We have a tradition of hall parties, for example, where there is free food, dancing and video games.
HH is the best!!!
