I would like to see how the team looks, accomplishments, officers, and what is in store for the year? thanks- Sarah Prewitt, Captain 2000. My name is Jeri Ann Waltrip. I am from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. My father-in-law is James Wilson Waltrip III. He was born in Sabine, Texas in 1927 & has told us for years about a high school in Houston. He is a retired teacher. This web-site is very interesting, especially reading the biography about S. P. Waltrip. I wonder if S.P. Waltrip's brother J. W. Waltrip is a relative. Again, you all have a excellent web-site. Best wishes to you all.

I am glad the seniors got to vote for the senior shirt, but which design won? I hope its not the silly popsicle. Where and when can I purchase it? Reply: The shirt that won is the one with 07 on the pocket and the Ram on back. You will be able to order them form the Sr officers in the cafeteria during lunch after the Christmas break.

In response to the Patrick Swayze comment from Nov 2006, Patrick Swayze has not attended any reunions. A cardboard cutout of him did attend the 20th reunion, there was a letter sent for the 10th, and no word for either the 30th or the 35th.

I don't understand this at all. Why did Ms. Curvey not acknowledge the fact that she told a student to go home and get the correct uniform and got in a car accident on the way back to school? The school gets on the p.a. system speaking of Peter Pan Peanut Butter but they don't like to discuss the things that are important. They spoke on the guys that died but why wait until its too late? This is something to think about because those were MY friends in that car and they were hurt pretty badly but did this get brought up at school?... No. Was it because they were black or was it because Ms. Curvey didn't want to take the blame. The student was new and simply didn't know the dress code. She was suppose to go to SRC but instead she had to put her life in danger. Waltrip worries too much about the unnecessary rather than the things we need. Reply: Given confidentiality issues, this student is welcome to address his/her concerns with me directly. This student clearly does not have all the facts. Mr. Siebenaler - Principal

I am a former student-class of 99. I was just driving by the school the other day and noticed the sign that we donated in front of the school is damaged. My friend told me it has been that way for a very long time. Its sad to see that it has not been fixed. Do you know when this sign will be repaired? It reflects on the school. Thank you-concerned former student. Reply: The businesses manager has been trying to get a quote from Atlas Signs on repair. The other issue is one of money. The school does not have much in the way of discretionary funds for the balance of the year.  The remaining funds will go towards basic services and payroll, with aesthetic-type projects being deferred. No promises that this will happen this school year, but we’ll at least investigate the cost. Please note that the sign was repaired as of 3/20/07

I was just reading the comments and scrolled down and noticed tons of advertising sites for drugs and sex. This is very disturbing to see such filth on a school guest book. Is there anything that can be done to block these comments?? Maybe better virus protection...Reply: There is nothing HISD can do to block it. It is not a virus, it is spammers posting their garbage anywhere they can. I try to delete it everyday.....Most HISD schools have done away with their guest book because of this problem.

This site is really cool and better than alot of other high school web sites. I was just wondering if the bell schedule is going to be the same next year. Many people much rather perferred the one the year before, with the one hour lunch and coming late on Wed. Having all 8 classes on Monday is useless because you can't get much from 45 minutes and its hard to go to every class on time, especially when you only go that way on Mondays. It's a waste to spend 40+ minutes on passing time as well. Just wanted to share that with you... and hopefully it will be changed to a schedule that will suit both, the teachers and students. Thank you.

WALTRIP CLASS of 1992 GATHER FOR 15-YEAR REUNION ON AUGUST 4 AT SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK Waltrip High School's class of 1992 will celebrate its 15-year reunion amidst a backdrop of live horse racing and local band Blue October on August 4 at Sam Houston Race Park. Organizers said that they hope all the Waltrip classes of the early 1990s that shared the school with the 1992 seniors will attend. "It's the 15th anniversary of our graduation," said John Box, "but many of the friends we made are younger and older. So we want to reach out to everyone – from those who were seniors when we were freshmen to those who were freshmen when we were seniors." One of those younger schoolmates is Blue October band member Jeremy Furstenfeld, who graduated from Waltrip in 1993. The group plans to meet in a reserved section on the concourse of Sam Houston Race Park. Concessions and betting windows will be available. The concert featuring Blue October will begin after the last horse race. Gates open at 5 pm. General entry to the track costs $4 and the concert can be seen from the concourse. For those who wish to be closer to the music, lawn seating for the concert costs $15, reserved seating is $29. These include admission to the park. Parking costs $4. No reservation is required, but organizers ask all who plan to attend to send an RSVP to waltrip1992@gmail.com. Sam Houston Race Park is located in northwest Houston on Beltway 8 between 290 and State Highway 249. Tickets for the Verizon Wireless Concert Series are on sale at the Sam Houston box office, MusicAtThePark.com , by calling (281) 807-8760, or at the gate. Blue October, in addition to drummer Jeremy Furstenfeld, also features lead singer Justin Furstenfeld, violinist Ryan Delahoussaye, guitarist C.B. Hudson, and bassist Matt Noveskey. Their most recent album is "Foiled", released by Brando/Universal Records, and includes the nationally recognized hits "Hate Me" and "Into the Ocean."

Hello. I am a 2007 grad... Go Class of 2007! I just wanted to thank Waltrip H. S. for the 4 wonderful high school years that I lived. I especially want to thank all my teachers. I would also like to say that to Mr. Siebenaler, that he should pay more attention to teachers, in this case I am referring to Mr. McVarish. he invited you to go into his classroom and view students work and Mr. Siebenaler never set foot in the classroom. McVarish is an excellent teacher and a genius. He is awesome

I'm doing community outreach for my company's diversity & inclusion program. A group of us would be interested in volunteering time with your gay-straight alliance. Please e-mail ericjroberson@aol.com Reply: The teacher that sponsored that club left Waltrip and no one else has picked it up.

Very impressive - much better than Reagan's. My daughter is a Freshman here. One thing missing is dates of report cards and progress reports. Although high school is geared toward young responsible adults, i'd still like to be informed via school. thanks ! Rose Davila - pinknpurple42@yahoo.com  Reply: All reporting dates are in the student handbook that was sent home the first week of school. They are also on the district website.

This is a great website, my name is Elaine Parnell Jackson, I graduated in 1971,my oldest daughter, Shannon Richardson graduated in 1992,my 16 year old, Shelby Jackson is in the 11th grade now and will graduate in 2009. What I want to know is, does anyone remember the "Fight Song", I would love to have a copy of the words. A lot of great people graduated from Waltrip, not just the famous ones, Oak Forest is still like a small town. Trivia, remember Ms. Gayle, our skirts could not be more than 2" above our knees, and she would actually measure if she thought our skirts were to short...Gordon Cotton was the greatest. A big thank you to all the teachers and staff, I believe overall we have great alumni and the kids that are there now (our future leaders of the country) are awesome. I think ya'll are doing a great job. Also, 1970 was the 1st year girls were allowed to wear pants, not jeans, double knit polyester pant suits..the good ole days............

Ms. Curvey isn't a mom, this explains her coldness toward students and Ms. Curvey should retire and be replaced by a warm hearted mom who understand students. Mr.. Salinas is at Waltrip because of the problems caused by ex principal Salmon. It's a shame F.M. Black had to lose such a good guy like Mr. Salinas but F. M. Black's loss is Waltrip's gain.

Hello!!! I am from the class of 2002 - still the best- and I have to say that I still really love my high school. My husband graduated from Aldine HS and although he went to state that year on the football team I still can see the difference in kids that went to a good HS and those that went to a "rough" one between him and me. His HS stories compared to mine make Waltrip look like the Angel Academy. Anyway, Mr. Lipham I think you're doing a really awesome job with the site. Keep up the good work. And to all my fellow classmates- Hello, I hope you're all doing well. I'd love to hear from any of you- At Waltrip I was known as Lloydia Price, however now through a name change and marriage, my name is Krysta Murillo myspace: BeautifulKrysta email: butterflybze@yahoo.com  Bye! Go Class of 2002!
