Website Submission Guidelines

There are over 200 pages on the Reagan website.  For example, the Organizations section contains information from athletics, student clubs, The Statesman, Class of 08 etc.. Each year, many of the pages have to be updated--and with that many pages, it can be a real headache.  When a coach wants his team's roster updated, it is up to the coach to get that typed in "table" format, then send it to the webmaster. If you don't know what we mean by "table", you need to find out before you submit anything to the webmaster (Mr. Krohn)

Format

When creating a page for the website, please use FrontPage.  All XP computers in HISD come with FrontPage--including the Educator Laptops.  You should never type any text, or place any graphics on a page outside of a table.  Furthermore, if you have a lot of information, such as an itinerary, tables are used for that as well. Example:

Wednesday 1/25/06 Scarborough High Delmar 6:00pm
*Friday 1/27/05 Davis Davis
Wednesday 2/1/06 Furr High Barnett 6:00pm
Friday 2/3/06 Sharpstown Delmar 4:00pm
Wednesday 2/8/06 Davis Delmar 6:00pm

Charts can be manipulated to show the gridlines (below), or not show them (above).

Wednesday 1/25/06 Scarborough High Delmar 6:00pm
*Friday 1/27/05 Davis Davis
Wednesday 2/1/06 Furr High Barnett 6:00pm
Friday 2/3/06 Sharpstown Delmar 4:00pm
Wednesday 2/8/06 Davis Delmar 6:00pm

If you're not familiar with FrontPage's table techniques--you can always use MS EXCEL.  The charts made from EXCEL will paste seamlessly into FP.  Please do not use MS WORD to create tables because they will not paste quite so seamlessly.

Graphics (pictures)

When you create a page in FP with graphics, they appear on your page and everything looks splendid. Then you send-in your completed work.  Mr. Krohn stops you in the hall and says, "you forgot to send the pictures." You have to send pictures, or graphics separately.  No matter how infinitesimal, every graphic must be sent with your page.

Consistency

Consistency is an important part of any website. The district prefers that we use the same fonts and same page styles throughout the site.

Submit

Sometimes web pages are too large to send through the mail.  We all have personal folders on our server. You can save you new page (or pages) in your folder--then email the webmaster and tell where it is saved.
