| Overview
Computer Lab 315 is located at the West end of the 3rd floor of the Main
Building.(M315). It is a full-service lab featuring 25 computer
workstations, 2 laser printers, a scanner, a data projector (w/ screen), a
telephone, and a teacher workstation. There is a workstation
at the front of the room. It is solely for the teacher to use
in conjunction with the data projector (or, LCD projector). The lab has
the necessary equipment for capturing movie footage (from a camcorder),
while all
computers have movie editing software. Just like all the computer labs on
the 3rd floor, Lab 315 is designed to be a place where students and teachers
interact with state-of-the-art PC workstations. It is an ideal place
to bring students to work on projects requiring research, or just
to use the equipment.

Rules
-
We'll talk more about scheduling
later, but remember, once you have scheduled time in Lab 315, and you
cannot be there that day, you must forfeit your time there. We
do not allow substitutes to bring classes to the lab--no exceptions.
-
You should report any irregularities
(w/ the equipment), to Mr. Blasco, or Mr. Krohn soon after you arrive in
the lab
-
Please leave the lab in the same
condition it was in when you arrived.
-
The lab should never be used as a
"reward" for students--If your students are in the lab, it must be
understood that they are there for work, with clearly defined
objectives. At no time should students be playing any kind of
games on the computers. Walk-throughs are a common occurrence.
-
Instant messaging is not allowed.
-
Sometimes teachers want students to
use email to send their assignments--this is allowed, but students
checking and answering their email is not allowed.
-
No students from other classes will
be allowed in the lab. Only students belonging to the class (that is
booked in the lab) are allowed in the lab.
-
If a teacher (not scheduled in Lab
315), wants a student to use a computer, he/she should send the student
to the Library.
-
Teachers with computer labs cannot
request time in Lab 315
Suggestions
-
The printers will have no paper in
their trays. If you plan for your students to print anything,
bring paper. In fact, you should bring paper no matter what.
-
As seen in other labs in the past,
giving students unbridled printing privileges can become very expensive.
Often, students tend to get impatient and end up printing their paper
numerous times. Keep an eye on the printer.
-
Keep a close eye on your students.
Someone has to be accountable if an inappropriate desktop-background or
screensaver is left on a computer by one of your students.
-
You will be able to take
attendance on the teacher workstation--so tell your students the day
before if you will be meeting at Lab 315 at class time. (Of
course, you can have students meet at your classroom and then escort
them to 315)
|
| Scheduling There
is only one way to request time in Lab 315. You must email Mr.
Blasco or Mr. Krohn with your request. No verbal agreements can be
made. Requests will be taken in the order they were received. If it
happens that more than one person wants a certain time, the person with
the earliest time-stamp (from their email) will be awarded the time.
Please consult the REAGAN CALENDAR before you make your request. There are
separate calendars for Lab 315 and the Laptop Carts. If you cannot
view the REAGAN CALENDAR, please follow the directions provided in the
following link:
