ABOUT US:

Reagan Social Studies UIL and Current Issues Teams consist of a group of dedicated students who meet once a week, after school, to discuss Current Events and the chosen UIL Social Studies Topic in preparation for competitions.

During the 2007-2008 school year, the team read the Primary Reading Selection entitled THE SUPREME COURT by William H. Rehnquist. The team also worked hard memorizing facts about the Supreme Court and examining 21 important Supreme Court Cases in detail. All the hard work and dedication paid off when the team placed 1st in District and was awarded lettermen jackets, trophies, and an overnight trip to Regional Competition in Huntsville.

The 2008-2009 topic is Sub-Saharan Africa. The team will be reading the Primary Reading Selection entitled KING LEOPOLD'S GHOST: A Story of Greed, Terror, and Heroism in Colonial Africa by Adam Hochschild.
