| Students
enjoy extensive opportunities to expand their knowledge and hone
their performance abilities when enrolled in Kashmere's music and
fine arts magnet program. Established artists offer intensive
instruction in choral and instrumental music, theory, composition/arrangement,
and jazz. Additionally, students may study art, dance, piano
and drama. Musicianship, performance, and academic achievement
are nurtured in a creative, supportive environment. Students
have the opportunity to showcase their talents with many off-campus
performances throughout the greater Houston area.
Students enrolled in the
Houston Independent School District may qualify to become a part of
the Conrad O. Johnson School of Music and Fine Arts by:
- having a grade point
average of 75 or above for the current grading period
- having acceptable conduct
and attendance
- completing an application
form
- having an acceptable
audition
- bringing their parent(s)/guardian
to the Magnet Office for an interview
- completing an entrance
agreement which defines expectations of the program.
