The first bell rings at 8:30 am allowing students to enter the building for class. Students should be in homeroom and/or class at 8:30 am. Students are not allowed in the building prior to the first bell. Students who ride early buses may enter the cafetorium at 7:30 am. Dismissal time is 3:40 pm.

HISD Attendance Policy

Our Daily Absence Procedure


Upon return to school from an absence, the student must submit a written parent/guardian excuse to the attendance office within three school days after the absence. This is mandatory for the absence to be excused. This absence note must include:

Students who have been absent must, upon returning to school, present promptly to the attendance office a written excuse from their parent/guardian. A parent has three school days to send the excuse to school. After that time, the absence becomes unexcused. In case of tardiness for the school day, the student must bring a written excuse from parents/guardian that same day. A STUDENT ENTERING SCHOOL AFTER HOMEROOM/CLASS IS OVER MUST CHECK IN THROUGH THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE.
