Barbara Jordan High School for Careers offers parents and students a variety career options while advancing through the state requirements for high school students. Barbara Jordan has two magnet programs. A magnet program is advanced instruction in many disciplines. Applications are required and we want to encourage you apply.

When a school of choice has space available and accepts a student from outside its attendance zone, HISD requires that the parents agree to keep the student at the chosen school for the entire school year. Check for transportation availability with each program/school.
HISD's Magnet School Plan is designed to provide programs whose quality and special focus will "attract" students from across the district and to increase the percentage of students attending integrated schools. Students and parents throughout the district may choose from Magnet schools that offer a wide variety of programs.

Enrollment Process

To register and enroll your child, bring the following to school:

Your child may be eligible to enroll provisionally if the required immunization process has begun. Texas law requires that a child must be enrolled by the child’s parent or guardian or another person with legal control of the child under a court order. It also requires the district to record the name, address, and date of birth of the person enrolling the student.
