Choose a career in engineering drafting and design.

Engineering drafting includes the design, layout, 3D prototyping and drawing of a wide variety of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/medical products such as parts, tools, machine components, biomedical devices and consumer products. Many designs can be quickly proto-typed using 3-D printers so they can be seen, held and critiqued in a short time frame. This technical field provides excellent opportunities for those who like to originate and develop ideas for industry. Graduates work in industrial drafting and design as engineering aides, detail drafters, tool designers, mechanical drafters, junior mechanical designers and junior product designers. After gaining experience in the field, graduates may advance to a position such as senior drafter, designer supervisor and drafting division manager. Examples of employers include manufacturers of biomedical equipment, controllers, automation equipment, tooling builders and recreational vehicles.
