The Army Garrison Cap

Before positioning the appropriate cadet officer or cadet enlisted insignia on the garrison cap, you should first know how to wear it. Place it on top of your head with the front vertical crease of the cap centered on your forehead in a straight line with your nose. Tilt the cap slightly to forward, approximately one inch from your brow. Do not crush or shape the garrison cap to form peaks at the top front or top rear of it.

As shown, cadet officers wear grade insignia on the garrison cap while enlisted cadets wear the ROTC insignia. Position either insignia on the left side of the cap one inch from the crease and centered vertically between the top braid and the bottom of the cap.

Nameplate

Male cadets center the nameplate on the right pocket between the top pocket seam and the top of the pocket buttonhole.

Female cadets center the nameplate horizontally on the right side with the bottom of the name plate on the imaginary line.

Honor Unit Insignia

Cadets center the Honor Unit Star one-fourth of an inch above the top seam of the right pocket. Cadets may also wear the Honor Unit Star joined with the Academic Achievement Wreath, if awarded.

Ribbons

Male cadets center ribbons on the pocket button one-eighth of an inch above the left pocket. Female cadets center ribbons in the left pocket area, aligning them with the name tag.

Ribbons are placed no more than three across, and one row must have three before the next is started. Ribbons are worn in order of precedence from top to bottom and from the wearer's right to left.

Medals and Badges

Male cadets place medals and badges one-eighth of an inch below the top seam on the left pocket flap. Female cadets place medals or badges one-fourth of an inch below their bottom row of ribbons.

No more than three medals and/or badges can be placed on the left pocket. A single medal or badge is centered from left to right on the left pocket. Two or more medals and/or badges are centered and spaced evenly on the left pocket. Medals and badges are worn in order of precedence from the wearer's right to left; medals are always placed to the right of badges.

Shoulder Cords

Male and female cadets may both wear shoulder cords. No more than one cord may be worn on each shoulder. A single cord is worn on the left shoulder, and two cords are worn in order of precedence from the wearer's left to right.

Gigline

The giglineLine up the tip of the belt with the end of the brass buckle so that none of the belt shows. This makes the belt buckle appear as one solid unit. Align the edge of the shirt, belt buckle, and zipper flap so that they form an unbroken vertical line
