				Swimming
										On Thursday January 31st at the District 23-4a championships the Davis girls won second place and the boys third. Boys captain Gabriel narrowly missed Gold in the 50 free losing to Waltrip by 11/100th of a second, he also placed second in the 500 free. First-time swimmers Roberto, Don , Armando, and Osiel worked hard to cover all relays and individual events, scoring 56 points and beating Austin HS for third place. The Davis girls had a great day with many excellent swims from Melinda in the 200 IM, and Christy in the 200 Free. Captain Evelyn placed second overall in the 100 back. Juniors Cessy and "Sushi" placed second and third in the grueling 500 yard freestyle. New swimmers Marianne, Michelle, and Ariel, along with Veteran Senior Lydia helped cover all of the other events and relays, pushing the girls to a score of 104 points, placing second behind returning District Champs Waltrip, while also beating out Austin, Scarborough, Worthing, and Reagan High Schools.
